- In real life it will only get a wee bit faster in actual transfer to go
- from 38400 on the port to 57600, on my A2k (or with 38400 on this
- machine) I get some 3500 bps, and with 57600 it only occasionally gets
- as high as 3700. Forcing an 8520 port to 57600 only increases the number
- of errors and can lead to a reduced throughput, but with an advanced OS
- you might get away with it, somewhat depending on hardware architecture
- and harddisk controller. OS/2 does it nicely on this machine, but it
- doesn't get the full 5400 bps throughput a 0-modem should permit, it
- still only gets some 3500 bps through the port. On a similar note, I
- have a spare A2k without accelerator, put an old GVP, rom 3.17 I think,
- in it, and it does 38400 on the port without errors, but with a slight
- decrease in throughput to some 3000 bps. I'm glad I didn't get a new rom
- for that one!
